Sir,

I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt

of your Confidential despatch of the 8th of May with regard

2.

to the pensions of officers of this Government.

In view of the fact that you propose to

consider the general question of pensions in the Eastern

Colonies when home conditions shell have become more stable,

it will in my opinion be better, for the present at any rate, not to introduce any minor changes in the existing system of calculating pensions.

3. As regards the question of Police pensions, however, I consider that an early change is desirable, and I submit for your consideration draft Pension Regulations drawn up by the Coloniel Treasurer on the basis of the

scheme approved in 1918.

I have consulted my bxecutive Council in this metter, and the members concur unanimously in recommending the adoption of these Regulations.

I have the honour to be,

sir.

Your most obedient humble servant,

B.E. Stads

Governor, &c.

WINSTON CHURCHILL, M.P.,
